All contraceptive methods can be divided into hormonal and non-hormonal methods. Hormonal methods: contraceptive pills, contraceptive patch, contraceptive ring, injections, Mirena spiral. Non-hormonal methods: Condoms, copper spiral, spermicides, calculation of fertile days, sterilization, termination of intercourse.
\nEach woman must choose the method that is most acceptable to her. The most commonly used contraceptives in Europe are contraceptive pills and condoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contraceptive methods<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are sexually active and do not intend to have children yet, you should choose the most acceptable method of contraception for you and your partner – this will allow you to feel safer and plan your personal and professional life. The risks of family planning are unjustified, and contraception allows a woman to have a baby exactly when she wants it. There are many methods, all of which differ in reliability, effectiveness, effects on the body, variety of methods and their method of use. Which one would be most useful and acceptable for you, the doctor can best help you decide. So consider all the pros and cons together, and enjoy the freedom of being together.
\nHormonal method<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Methods that contain two hormones, estrogen and progestin:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

combined contraceptive pills; contraceptive patch; contraceptive ring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Methods that contain only progestin:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

progestin pills; progestin injections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barrier method: male condoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vaginal method: spermicidal products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other vaginal contraceptive methods are also used in the world – the diaphragm and the cervical cap, but they are not available in Lithuania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A method based on fertility recognition. This method is based on determining the day of ovulation based on the duration of the cycle, as well as on constant monitoring of changes in certain body conditions, such as basal temperature or vaginal mucus. Based on changes in these signs, fertile and infertile days are determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This method has many disadvantages, because it is not always possible to determine changes. For example, measuring basal temperature becomes meaningless when there is a fever for various reasons. The nature of vaginal mucus changes with vaginitis, often with sexual intercourse. According to clinical studies, the reliability of this method, when using everything at the same time (measuring basal temperature, monitoring mucus), can reach 80\u201386.6 percent, but this method is only suitable for women with a regular cycle, who are determined to monitor themselves daily and give birth if they become pregnant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
