A medical breast exam, or clinical breast exam, should be done by a healthcare professional, such as a gynecologist.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #3c4043;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Familiarity with your own breasts is important, and you should talk to your doctor about any new changes concerning your breasts. Studies have shown that self-exams are not always effective and many women may miss abnormalities. The recent guidelines for breast self-exams have also changed.
